MFR is a soft tissue therapy that is used for the treatment of skeletal muscle immobility and pain. This therapy aims to relax contracted muscles, improve blood and lymphatic circulation, and to stimulate the stretch reflex in muscles. Both of our Remedial Massage Therapists combine MFR into theri treatments.
This modality focuses on the exceedingly contracted points in our muscle fibres, which are painful upon compression and which may cause referred pain and tenderness to another area in the body. The focused treatment of trigger points can assist in the management of chronic pain symptoms that are difficult to fix. A trigger point/ "pressure point" therapy session involves locating, deactivating and lengthening the affected muscle and restoring normal range of motion and function.
Soft Tissue treatments can aid in the prevention and recovery of injuries. Treatments augment the healing process and reduce pain and stiffness of the affected area(s). Our highly qualified Soft Tissue & Remedial Massage therpaist Coline Loret is trained to assess and treat physical illnesses, injuries and disabilities with a range of therapies. Her treatments are focused and specific so that you can achieve the best results.
Dry needling is a technique that can be used to treat a variety of musculoskeletal problems, myofascial pain and joint/muscle dysfunction. It is a highly effective form of treatment and is aimed at reducing pain and increasing movement/ blood flow to a muscle or joint. Dry needling involves inserting a small thin filament needle (generally 2mm width) into the skin and a myofascial trigger point. Trigger points develop as a result of general daily activities, such as; sport, poor posture and repetitive stress/work tasks and can cause referral pain patterns and discomfort.
Myofascial Cupping is a form of myofascial release and trigger point therapy. The application of slightly pressurised (ie suctioned) cups helps to lift and separate soft tissue (muscles & fascia), allowing for improved fluid movement and nutrient supply to the soft tissues. This triggers tissue detoxification, and improves range of motion of the affected tissue(s).
Reflexology is a massage-type treatment that is focused on the feet, which are seen to mirror different parts of the body. Reflexology may be effective in reducing stress and tension, improving circulation, reduced toxicity and improving immunity.
The Bowen Technique is a massage technique that uses cross fibre release to balance and stimulate energy and blood flow to the muscles. This can result in a deep relaxation, allowing the body to heal itself better, and may be effective in treating muscular-skeletal problems.
